About us
The Level Crossing is where the railroad crosses the road. The Level Crossing provides necessary traffic control equipment and makes sure that trains pass safely. Trains have the right to pass first. However, there are factors such as impatient drivers and badly designed lanes, and they have resulted in frequent railroad accidents. From 2001 to 2005, 410 railroads accidents happened at 650 Level Crossings in the whole country. It resulted in 125 dead, and 153 injured. The average number of accidents in one year is 80, with 25 dead and 30 injured. This average is higher compared to that of other countries showing the need for Taiwan to improve our Level Crossing safety.

Through its website, the Ministry of Communications provides citizens with basic knowledge and related information about Level Crossing safety. The website includes foreign and domestic information about Level Crossing, including introduction to equipment, data on accidents, public discussion area, and the maintenance and use of databases. The website is a platform for knowledge and communication, and it s goal is for citizens to care about the Level Crossing.
