Instructions for Using the Computer Voice Ticket Reservation System

Telephone numbers for connecting to the system for each area:
1 Taipei(City and District),Keelung City, Taoyuan District (includes Taoyuan and Jhongli), Taichung (City and District), Changhua District (includes Changhua and Yuanlin, Kaohsiung (City and District), Chiayi (City and District), Tainan (City and District), Hsinchu (City and Disrict), Ilan (City and District), Hualien, passengers for the above areas, please dial 412-1111 or 412-6666, once connected, please enter 333#.
2 For Taitung, please dial 41-1111 or 41-6666, and once connected, please enter 333. 3. Passengers in other areas, please dial 08-4121111, and then enter 333#.
 
* Attention *
1. To become familiar with this system, please read the following instructions carefully.
2. To plan a train ride, please refer to the Train Schedules, which will help you to fill in the number of the train, the date, the departure and arrival stations in the voice ticket reservation form, which will save you time once you activate the Voice System..
3. If you do not understand the procedure, you can use the fourth function which provides instructions.
4 After having made a reservation successfully, please remember the reservation code, so that the ticket sales section may serve you efficiently. Please complete the purchase of the ticket within the time set by the system, and pay the $10 fee for using the system. Thank you for your cooperation.
5. The system is open for service from 6 am to 9 pm.
6. Ticket sales booths are open from 7:30 am to 9 pm. Passengers must bring their I.D. cards and the computer reservation codes to obtain their tickets.
7. The system will only accept reservations made 5 to 7 days before departure. For example, if you want to take the train on July 7, you must make the reservation some time between July 1 and July 3 (you may make a reservation on Monday for departures anytime between Friday and Sunday of the same week).
8. Tickets must be bought 2 days before the departure date. For example , if you have reserved a ticket for July 16, you must buy the ticket at the latest, on July 14 before 9 pm.
9. If you would like to cancel a reservation, use the cancellation function in the system. If you have made a reservation without purchasing the ticket, you will not be allowed to use the system for 6 months.
 
Voice Code Equivalents
1. English letters on I.D. card numbers and other the English letters on the number of the train (extra trains have the same codes) must use these number for entering into the Voice System.

2. For the number of each train, please refer to the train schedules.
3. Code for types of trains: *1 signifies Tzu Chiang trains *2 signifies Chu Kuang trains *3 signifies Fu Hsing trains *4 signifies all numbered trains.
4. Method of entering the time: for example, 8:11am: enter 0811, for 18:21 pm, enter 1821.

Simplified Steps for Entering Data into the Voice Ticket Reservation System
1). Choosing the Voice Functions
  Enter a number (1,2,3,4, or 0) 1 enters the ticket reservation function. 2 enters the enquiries function. 3 enters the cancellation function. 4 enters the instructions for using the Voice System function. 0 terminates usage.
2). Ticket reservation function
  1 Please enter I.D. card number (there are codes for the English letters, please refer to the chart under Voice Code Equivalents.
  2 Correct or incorrect, enter one number: 1 or 0 (repeat last step).
  3 Please enter the boarding date: four numbers.
  4 Please enter the train number (1 to 6 numbers)# Or enter the type of train (2 numbers). And also the time period (4 numbers).
  5 Please enter the departure station code (3 numbers).
  6 Please enter the arrival station code (3 numbers).
  7 Please enter the number of tickets to be reserved (one number).
  8 Correct or incorrect (one number): 1 or 0. 9 After successfully making a reservation, remember the computer code for your reservation and the time limitation for obtaining your ticket(s).
3). Enquiries Function
  1 Please enter your I.D. card number (11 numbers).
  2 Correct or incorrect (one number): 1 or 0 (repeat last step).
  3 Please enter the computer code (6 numbers).
  4 The Voice System will give the ticket reservation data.
  5 End.
4). Cancellation Function
  1. Please enter your I.D. number (11 numbers).
  2. Correct or incorrect (one number): 1 or 0(repeat the previous step).
  3. Please enter the computer code for the reservation (6 numbers).
  4. To cancel the reservation, enter 1 do not cancel, enter 0.
  5 . The Voice System will give the ticket reservation data.
  6. End.
 
The Process of using the Voice Ticket Reservation System
1). Ticket Reservation
  1. Voice: You have entered the Ticket Reservation Function, please enter your I.D. card number. (e.g. C123456789)
  2. Passenger (Pass): Presses 03123456789
  3. Voice: Your I.D. card number is C123456789, press 1 if correct, press 0 if incorrect.
  4. Pass : Presses 1.
  5. Voice: Please enter boarding date. (e.g. July 7)
  6. Pass : Presses 0707.
  7. Voice: Please enter the train number or train type. (e.g. for train 1001, press 1001#, for train 103A, press 10301#).
  8. Pass : Presses 1001#. Or presses *1# (code for type of train), and then presses 0917. (time period e.g. 9 am to 5 pm).
  9. Voice: Please enter the departure station code. (e.g. Taipei station 100, Taichung station 146).
  10. Pass : Presses 146.
  11. Voice: Please enter the arrival station code. (e.g. Sungshan station 098, Kaohsiung station 185).
  12. Pass : Press 185.
  13. Voice: Please enter the number of tickets to be reserved. The maximum number of tickets that can be reserved per person per day is 4. (e.g. reserves 2).
  14. Pass : Press 2.
  15. Voice: Your reservation is for July 7, 1995, train number 1001, departure station is Taichung, arrival station is Kaohsiung , 2 tickets are reserved Press 1 if correct, press 0 if incorrect.
  16. Pass : Press 1.
  17. Voice: Your reservation is being processed, please wait a moment.
  18. Voice: Your reservation is completed, you must pay the $10 fee for using this system when you purchase your ticket(s), and please remember your computer code : 123456, 123456. Please purchase your ticket(s) before 9pm, July 5, 1995. Thank you and have a nice trip.
   
2). Reservation Enquiries:
  1. Voice: You have entered the Enquiries Function, please enter your I.D. card number. (e.g. C123456789)
  2. Pass : Presses 03123456789.
  3. Voice: Your I.D. number is C123456789.Press 1 if correct, press 0 if incorrect.
  4. Pass : Press 1.
  5. Voice: Please enter the computer code.
  6. Pass : Presses 123456.
  7. Voice: Your request is being processed, please wait a moment.
  8. Voice: This system contains the following data for your reservation. July 7, 1995, train number 1001, departure station is Taichung, arrival station is Kaohsiung, number of ticket(s) reserved is 2. Please purchase your ticket(s) at the sales counter before 9 pm on July 5, 1995. At the same time, pay the $10 fee for using this system.
  9. Voice: Thank you for using the Voice System. Goodbye. (disconnects)
   
3). Canceling a Reservation:
  1. Voice: You have entered the Cancellation Function, please enter your I.D. card number. (e.g. C123456789)
  2. Pass : Presses 03123456789
  3. Voice: Your I.D. number is C123456789.Press 1 if correct, press 0 if incorrect.
  4. Pass : Presses 1.
  5. Voice: Please enter the computer code.
  6. Pass : Presses 123456.
  7. Voice: Your request is being processed, please wait a moment.
  8. Voice: The reservation to be cancelled contains the following data. July 7, 1995, train number 1001, departure station is Taichung, arrival station is Kaohsiung, the number of ticket(s) reserved is 2. To cancel reservation, press 1. Do not cancel, press 0.
  9. Pass : Presses 1.
  10. Voice: Thank you for using the Voice System. (disconnects)

the above can be obtained from the System. ***
4). Replacement tickets:
  If a passenger immediately requests a ticket upon boarding, he/ she shall pay the regular price for the distance to be traveled. If the passenger only requests a ticket when the ticket check is being made without a clear reason, she/he should pay the regular price for the distance to be traveled and be refunded 50% the price for the distance traveled. If it is not clear where the passenger boarded, the calculation shall be made from the initial station or the station of the last ticket check. 5.Air conditioning fees: If the air conditioning in a train is not functioning, the passengers upon arrival at the destination, should request a refund of 20% for passengers in trains with malfunctioning air conditioning. 6.Tickets with same numbers:If a passenger discovers that, upon boarding another passenger has a ticket with the same seat number, and there are no other seats available, after confirmation from the train master, the passenger should request a 20% refund.
