Periodic ticket

Last update time:2024/01/11

Periodic tickets are sold to passengers who often ride a train in one-way within 150 km. At station without the automatic ticket inspecting system, “General Periodic Ticket” in the form of thin paper is sold. At departure stations disposed with automatic ticket inspecting gate (refer to table attached for details), “General Periodic Ticket” in the form of magnetic card is sold. It is not used with name registered. Periodic tickets are not applied to compensation regulation of delay for passengers. (The Council has canceled the ticket type of Periodic ticket in the form of magnetic card which counts the number of travels since 2010 February, 10, and has changed to sell the “General Periodic Ticket in the form of magnetic card”)

The Council has newly added Periodic ticket with valid period of 60 days since 2010 June, 1 (also abbreviated as 60 days general periodic ticket; periodic ticket with valid period of 30 days is also abbreviated as 30 days general periodic ticket).

  1. Valid period:
    1. 30 days general periodic ticket: valid for 30 days since the starting day of the ticket.
    2. 60 days general periodic ticket: valid for 60 days since the starting day of the ticket.

Note: Periodic ticket can be pre-sold 3 days before the starting day (for example: periodic ticket of starting day on February 23 can be pre-sold on February 20).

  2. Calculation of ticket fare:
    1. 30 days general periodic ticket: ticket fare of Fu-Hsing Semi Express x 21 days of fare counted x 2 round trips per day x 85% (15% discounted) and the mantissa is rounded off.
    2. 60 days general periodic ticket: ticket fare of Fu-Hsing Semi Express x 42 days of fare counted x 2 round trips per day x 85% (15% discounted) and the mantissa is rounded off.

(※2010 February, 10 – 2010 May, 31, the calculation formula of periodic ticket with valid period of 30 days is: ticket fare of Fu-Hsing Semi Express of 2 round trips per day x 30 days of valid period x 62% (38% discounted) and the mantissa is rounded off)

  3. Explanation of use of ticket:
    1. Can ride according to the valid period, starting and ending stations and train type listed on the ticket surface. Number of usage is unlimited during the period, but it is not allowed to ride the sightseeing train, Taroko train, Puyuma train and the specific train announced by the Council (cruise train, special train for group).
    2. Please quickly apply for refund if not continuing to use. Number of days passed (the day of refund from the starting day of the ticket) is regarded as that 2 round trips have been ridden between the starting and ending stations as listed on the surface of the ticket each day (the fare is calculated as the full ticket fare of Fu-Hsing Semi Express without discount), and handling fee of NT$31 for refund is deducted.

Example: Purchase 30 days general periodic ticket in the form of magnetic card from Taoyuan to Zhongli, the valid period of the ticket (April 22 ~ May 21)

      1. Refund on April 30 (the 9th day):
Purchase amount NT$536 – (the 9th day x 2 round trips per day x ticket fare of NT$15 for Fu-Hsing Semi Express) – handling fee of NT$31 for refund = NT$235 is refunded
      2. Refund on May 12 (the 21st day):
Purchase amount NT$536 – (the 21st day x 2 round trips per day x ticket fare of NT$15 for Fu-Hsing Semi Express) – handling fee of NT$31 for refund = NT$0 is refunded (※suggested to continue to use until the valid period is ended)

When the 60 days general periodic ticket is refunded after the number of days passed is more than 30 days, the 30 days enjoy discount.

Example: Purchase 60 days general periodic ticket in the form of magnetic card from Taoyuan to Zhongli, the valid period of the ticket (April 22 ~ June 20)

      1. Refund on May 23 (the 32nd day):
Purchase amount NT$1,008 – ticket fare of NT$536 for 30 days periodic ticket - (the 2nd day after 30 days x 2 round trips per day x ticket fare of NT$15 for Fu-Hsing Semi Express) – handling fee of NT$31 for refund = NT$381 is refunded
      2. Refund on May 23 (the 32nd day):
Purchase amount NT$1,008 – (the 29th day x 2 round trips per day x ticket fare of NT$15 for Fu-Hsing Semi Express) – handling fee of NT$31 for refund = NT$107 is refunded (※suggested to refund on the 30th day)

    4. General periodic ticket in the form of magnetic card”If the ticket is fouled, please ask the station for a change of ticket. If a ticket which is fouled and cannot be identified is used to get on the train, please purchase for another ticket first, and then arrange for a ticket change.
    5. General periodic ticket in the form of magnetic card”When going out of the station using the automatic gate, please insert the ticket after the previous passenger leaves the gate, in order to avoid being mistaken. Lost ticket will not be reissued.
